As I watched each episode of Escape Routes this season, I thought to myself, could I handle that challenge? I was good when the teams played Hangin’ with Friends. I thought I could get through Castleville. (Are you afraid of cardboard Beasties or just real Beasties?)

Then, the teams went to Miami. I was done. There is simply no way that I could handle the jet pack.

After the final challenge was taped, I was given the opportunity to meet and interview the cast of Escape Routes. I had to know what challenges were the most difficult.

Brett said that the jet pack challenge his most difficult challenge. What we didn’t see on TV was a major wipeout. This, of course, confirmed my fears about the jet pack. The firefighter challenge was difficult due to the reduced visibility and the weight of the rescue dummy. Other challenges were simply frustrating due to the scoring system that was used.

The answer that I got from Ross surprised me the most. When I asked about his favorite challenge, he said it was the challenge that he thought he would never finish. The final challenge. He showed me the bruises, cuts and scrapes. (In fact, all of the teams said that their necks still ached and they had some battle scars.) Brett’s said that the challenge was amazing because he had never pushed himself so far. At times, he was 100% sure that he would quit and not be able to make it, but he channeled the strength and support of his family, friends and Interactive Teammates and got through it. He said that finishing was an amazing feeling. The challenge that was the hardest later became his favorite.

Have you thought about it? What challenge scares you? Could you have handled all of the challenges that the contestants were given? Want the details on the final challenge? You’ll have to watch the finale of Escape Routes to find out more!
